Affectionately referred to as “Aunt Libby Cookies” these are the perfect Italian cookie. They aren’t sweet, have a very subtle flavor – perfect with coffee or after-dinner drinks. Some people add a 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon or almond oil but I prefer it without.
Note: this picture does not do the cookies justice. I’m still working on proper shape…

Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Crisco
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Lightly toast the sesame seeds in a saute pan over medium/low heat.
- Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Cut Crisco into the flour mixture and make a soft dough.
- Whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla and add to the dough.
- Form the cookies into two to three-inch logs and roll them in sesame seeds. You could brush them with a little milk before rolling in seeds if the seeds aren’t sticking.
- Bake at 375 degrees until lightly browned on the bottom.
