Pizza Sauce

This pizza sauce can be used traditionally on pizza or for dishes like pizzaeola or parmigiana. The key is no garlic and white rather than red wine. Mom is not a huge oregano fan, but I would add the oregano to the mixture as you are cooking it to get the flavor in the sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 1 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • a handful of dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Saute onion in olive oil until lucid.
  2. Add crushed tomatoes, white wine, and salt and pepper.
  3. Cook for 20 minutes at a slow boil. Add oregano before cooking or as a garnish when using the sauce.
