This pizza sauce can be used traditionally on pizza or for dishes like pizzaeola or parmigiana. The key is no garlic and white rather than red wine. Mom is not a huge oregano fan, but I would add the oregano to the mixture as you are cooking it to get the flavor in the sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 medium chopped onion
- 1 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup white wine
- salt and pepper to taste
- a handful of dried oregano
Instructions
- Saute onion in olive oil until lucid.
- Add crushed tomatoes, white wine, and salt and pepper.
- Cook for 20 minutes at a slow boil. Add oregano before cooking or as a garnish when using the sauce.
